WHO WE ARE

Global Pipeline Integrity & Corrosion Portal

Global Pipeline Integrity & Corrosion Portal (GPIC) is a planned specialist information portal for organizations responsible for designing, purchasing, building, inspecting, and maintaining pipelines. Its intended audience includes pipeline owners and operators, engineering, procurement, and construction firms, pipe mills, coating manufacturers, inspection providers, corrosion engineers, project developers, and technical buyers. GPIC will focus on the evidence needed to make sound decisions across the pipeline asset life cycle, from material selection and manufacturing through installation, operation, inspection, repair, and eventual replacement.

Pipeline performance depends on more than the nominal grade of a pipe or the advertised capability of an inspection tool. The transported product, operating pressure, temperature, terrain, water depth, soil or seawater conditions, installation method, weld design, coating quality, and inspection access all affect the suitability of a proposed solution. GPIC will place technical specifications within these operating conditions so readers can assess whether a product or method fits a particular duty. Its aim is to make comparisons useful for actual projects without presenting one project specification as a universal rule.

Line pipe coverage will examine API 5L grades and other applicable material specifications in the context of pipe diameter, wall thickness, manufacturing route, dimensional tolerances, mechanical properties, toughness, weldability, testing, and documentation. Articles will explain how these factors relate to design pressure, installation strain, fracture control, sour-service considerations, and field welding. GPIC will distinguish a stated grade from the full set of requirements in a purchase specification, including supplementary testing and project-specific acceptance criteria.

OUR EDITORIAL FOCUS

Leading Voices in Strategy

External corrosion protection will be another central area. GPIC will cover fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE), three-layer polyethylene (3LPE), three-layer polypropylene, field-joint coatings, concrete weight coatings, and other systems where relevant. Reporting will consider surface preparation, coating application lines, cure or cooling conditions, thickness control, adhesion, impact resistance, holiday detection, handling damage, and field repair.
